REFRESHING MACEDONIAN WHITE AND A JUICY FRENCH ROSE!

Tikveš Winery Rkaciteli Special Selection 2013
Country: MACEDONIA  / Region: TIKVES REGION / Appellation: TIKVES REGION /
Varietal(s): RKACITELI --- Winemaking in Macedonia is nearly as old as winemaking itself. The Romans established a tradition of growing grapes for wine. Founded in 1885, Tikveš Winery obviously has a long history of winemaking, even becoming one of the larger wineries in Europe in the late 60's. The winery has undergone significant modernization following the independence of Macedonia. This wine originates from the Barovo vineyards in the Kozuv Mountains, and is the perfect balance of freshness and intensity, making it a versatile, food-friendly wine. Enjoy this version of the rkaciteli grape, crisp and clean, with a rich orange zest core, perfect for spring salads or seafood.

Chais Saint Laurent Chinon AOC Rosé 2014
Country: FRANCE  / Region: LOIRE VALLEY / Appellation: CHINON AOC / Varietal(s): CABERNET FRANC  --- This wine is from the famed Chinon area, but made by a “petit négociant”. Founded in the 1920’s, the firm has been family-run the entire time, but has recently added a partner to help expand their business internationally. Typically, Chinon sells for significantly more money than this wine does. But this firm has managed to maintain prices with the expansion to new markets such as the US. Thus you and I are able to enjoy this lovely cabernet franc rosé at an exceptionally good price. Harvested from various vineyards in the region, the fruit sees between 24-36 hours of skin maceration prior to fermentation. It is fresh and clean with delicate watermelon and berry fruit notes. The finish is dry and stony and keeps you wanting another sip. When enjoying this wine, it's hard to put the glass down as your palate is always ready for more.
