Quinta do Casal Branco Vinho Regional Tejo 2014
Country: PORTUGAL / Region: RIBATEJO / Appellation: TEJO / Varietal(s): FERNAO PIRES   --- This very old estate has seen many changes recently, all for the better. Jose Lobo de Vasconcelos took over his family estate in 1986 and began a campaign to rejuvenate the estate. He replanted many of the vineyards including those growing this excellent white, ferñao pires. The variety has taken root in central Portugal, and makes wines in a range of styles. This version is perfectly crisp, clean and minerally with notes of citrus tinged with exotic fruit. This will be a crowd pleaser not just for summer picnicking but as we transition to fall as well. Stock up.

Antaño Rioja DOCa Crianza 2011
Country: SPAIN / Region: RIOJA / Appellation: RIOJA DOCa / Varietal(s): TEMPRANILLO+GRACIANO+MAZUELO --- Spain’s most renowned wine region, the Rioja DOCa area is located in northern Spain along the Ebro River near the town of Logroño. The name of the area comes from Río Oja, a tributary of the Ebro. Established in 1926, Rioja was the first DO, and in 1991, it became the first Spanish DOCa, in a region that has seen winemaking for more than 2,500 years since pre-Roman times. A great value from an award-winning producer, this Rioja is violet-tinged ruby in color, and perfect for many occasions. Easy drinking with rich fruit, it's nicely balanced with food-friendly acidity and an elegant, lingering finish. Grab this whenever you're having a casual get-together over a tapas platter of hard cheeses and cured meats, or of course with anything hot off the grill!
