Tory Kicker Stone Fort Reserve Cider
Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A ---Tory Kicker is grown and hand-crafted by Ripple Stone Cidery in Middleburgh, NY, where the Schoharie Valley meets the Northern Catskills. A small, primitive cidery, Tory Kicker ciders are made by old-world techniques, pressed by hand and brewed by the barrel. A blend of their own orchard's no-spray, non-fertilized apples, and various wild and feral apples foraged from the surrounding woods are used to create a clean drinking, dry cider that's both accessible and full of character. Stone Fort is about twenty-five percent foraged apples, with a tart, lip-smacking profile imparted by wild russets. A large dose of clean, ripe apple is accented by flavors of grapefruit, lemongrass, and a faint hint of pipe smoke, on a bright, lingering finish. Serve chilled with grilled cheese with cheddar, apples, and almond butter.
Calabretta Vino Rosso "Gaio Gaio" NV - ORGANICALLY GROWN
Country: ITALY / Region: SICILY / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): NERELLO MASCALESE --- From the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily comes this delectable red that is the epitome of old school Italian winemaking, and one of the absolute best values out there! Calabretta is a traditional winery that's putting a spin on classic Sicilian varietals, blending extra wine left over from their acclaimed long-aging single vintages into a more youthful wine. The altitude and wind on the slopes of Mt. Etna contribute to reducing disease and pest pressure, allowing winemaker Massimiliano Calabretta to use minimal intervention in the vineyards. "Gaio Gaio" means "joy joy". Also used as a nickname for his father, Gaetano, Gaio Gaio is a combination of wines from 2005 and 2006 that are based on nerello mascalese from the volcanic vineyards of Calderara and Randazzo. "Gaio Giao" will captivate your palate with maturity and a ton of character. Medium-bodied, aromas of cherry, backed earth, and a hint of smoke are followed by a palate of bright red berries, spice, and earth. Grainy tannins, lively acidity, and lovely fresh fruit on the finish make this a winner with comfort foods like stews and pasta casseroles.
