Domaine André et Mireille Tissot Crémant du Jura AOC Extra Brut NV - BIODYNAMICALLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: JURA / Appellation: CREMANT DU JURA AOC/ Varietal(s): PINOT NOIR+CHARDONNAY+POULSARD+TROUSSEAU --- "When you’re Biodynamic, you have a different life in your vines, in your grapes, and in this way, you can make very easy wine. It leads you." Those are the words Stéphane Tissot lives by, having worked biodynamically since 2004, and with his wife, Bénédicte, striving to express the character of the Jura terroir above all else. The Tissot family has been producing wine in the Jura since 1962, with Stéphane and Bénédicte taking the reins from his parents, André and Mireille, and acquiring a formidable reputation as being among the region's top winemakers. This wine is a full-bodied bubbly that will elevate just about any occasion. Rich deep gold in color sparkling with streams of fine bubbles, opulent aromas of yeast, pear, and lemon zest give way to refined notes of orchard fruit, flowers and almonds on the palate supported by a lively, mineral-driven finish. Open this with vegetable bisque, cheeses, or to make any day a celebration!
Domaine Dyckerhoff Reuilly Blanc AOC 2014
Country: FRANCE / Region: LOIRE VALLEY / Appellation: REUILLY AOC / Varietal(s): SAUVIGNON BLANC --- Reuilly is located at the eastern end of the Loire, not far from Quincy. Not to be confused with Rully in Burgundy, Reuilly is often overshadowed by the regions of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé when it comes to recognition for sauvignon blanc production. However, this 370 acre region offers a refreshing alternative to the usual Loire whites, and an excellent value as well! Since 2004, Christian Dyckerhoff and his Alsatian wife, Bénédicte, have been making wine on 12 acres of lieu-dit plots in Les Conges, Les Enaudes and La Raie, where vines range in age from 3-20 years. Picture a cross between a Sancerre and Bordeaux: opening with herbal, grassy notes, this medium-bodied white focuses on round, ripe fruit flavors of citrus and gooseberry. Bright, zesty acidity and loads of minerals and stone finished off with more touches of grass and gooseberry make this complex, compelling, and hard to put down! All the elegance and terroir you desire, at a delicious price too! Pair this with fish, cooked green vegetables with butter and lemon (great for those holiday table sides), or goat cheese tarts.
Anne Pichon "Sauvage" Grenache Noir Vin de Pays du Vaucluse 2014 - CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Country: FRANCE / Region: RHÔNE VALLEY / Appellation: VIN DE PAYS DU VAUCLUSE / Varietal(s): GRENACHE NOIR --- In 2008, Marc Pichon bought Domaine le Murmurium in the Côte de Ventoux village of Mormoiron. Made up of 13 hectares of old vineyards on prime terroir adjacent to Château Pesquie, Murmurium comes from the Latin phrase "The Buzzing Song of Bees", an old estate name which the Anne Pichon labels pay tribute to. All the vineyards are cultivated through 100% organic practices without any chemicals or pesticides and by hand tilling the soil. All harvesting is also by hand, and the grapes are completely destemmed. Although tragically no longer with us, Marc Pichon has said that his inspiration behind "Sauvage" is to produce a fresh, accessible, pure style of wine. Fermentations are done in small cement tanks with native yeast. This grenache is a perfect companion for chilly weather. Aromas lean to floral violets, but with a restrained black fruit note. The wine has never seen oak, but is capable of sitting alongside strong cheeses and roasted or braised dishes as well.
