Sorelle Bronca Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry NV - ORGANICALLY GROWN
Country: ITALY / Region: VENETO / Appellation: VALDOBBIADENE PROSECCO SUPERIORE DOCG /
Varietal(s): GLERA --- Sisters Antonella and Ersiliana Bronca have focused intensively on quality since taking over the reigns from their father Livio. Along with Antonella’s husband, Pietro, a winemaker, and Ersiliana’s daughter Elisa, who holds a degree in enology, this family team works hard in the vineyard and cellar to produce the purest Prosecco possible, using organic practices. Many of the 20 hectares of their steep, hillside vineyards lie within the borders of the prized Valdobbiadene region. This is a stunning example of Italy's favorite sparkling wine: light and lively, with fine, delicate bubbles carrying succulent aromas of white fruit, wisteria, and acacia. Sweet pear, nectarine and white peach blossom meet crisp grapefruit notes deftly balanced between tangy acidity and soft minerality. A perfect aperitif, this makes any dinner a special occasion. Open it with arugula salad with pear, Parmesan and candied pecans.

Forlorn Hope Verdelho California "Que Saudade" 2013 - SUSTAINABLY GROWN
Country: USA / Region: CALIFORNIA / Appellation: CALIFORNIA / Varietal(s): VERDELHO --- Named by the San Francisco Chronicle as one of its Winemakers to Watch a few years ago, Matthew Rorick is standout even among his peers. A man of seemingly tireless energy, Rorick is a supreme experimenter. Rorick worries little about exactly how the wines will turn out, focusing more on the process, and allowing the wines to reveal their individual personalities along the way. This white is perfect for the transitioning weather of warmer days with still-cool nights. It was barrel-fermented, but in neutral barrels, not imparting oaky flavors but developing texture and complexity. The wine almost hovers somewhere between a white and red wine, offering both acidity and weight with some delicate tannin. Pour this with risotto with zucchini and peas or roast chicken with spring vegetables.

Domaine Lambert Chinon AOC "Les Terrasses" 2013 - CERTIFIED BIODYNAMIC
Country: FRANCE / Region: LOIRE VALLEY / Appellation: CHINON AOC / Varietal(s): CABERNET FRANC --- Vignerons since 1987, Domaine Lambert converted their property to practicing organic in the early 2000's and became certified organic by Ecocert in 2005. However, Beatrice and Pascal decided this was not enough, and began transitioning to biodynamic production. Emulating many of their neighbors in the Loire, they adhered to the dogma of Nicolas Joly, using plant foliage between rows, and adding no sulfur to their wines. 100% cabernet franc, "Les Terrasses" comes from vines planted on the gravelly calcareous clay atop the region's famed tuffeau (chalky limestone). A wild, musky nose of berries and crushed herbs evolves into dense ripe red and black fruits on the palate, elegantly accented by hints of spring flowers and supple tannins. This delightful cab franc embodies what great Chinon can be, seeing no oak, and no added sulfite, displaying bright, clean fruit and the classic Loire minerality. Perfect with a light chill and a plate of grilled sausages, pork chops, or quinoa-stuffed peppers.
