Baronnie de Coussergues Pays d'Oc IGP Blanc 2016
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC / Appellation: PAYS D'OC IGP / Varietal(s): SAUVIGNON BLANC+ROLLE+ROUSSANNE+ CHARDONNAY --- Founded in 1495 by a land grant from Charles VIII, this old estate has been producing wine for generations. We found them initially under another label called Castelfort. Located in the heart of the Languedoc near Béziers, the estate is blessed with favorable conditions to grow a large variety of grapes, both white and red. This delightful white blend makes a versatile tablemate. Bright citrus and stone fruits mingle with hints of melon, mineral, and wildflowers for a balanced, expressive quaff that plays well with just about any cuisine. An easy- drinking choice with linguine in white clam sauce or saffron jasmine rice topped with creamy chicken korma... and the price makes it even easier!
Plozza Rosso di Valtellina DOC 2011
Country: ITALY / Region: LOMBARDY / Appellation: ROSSO DI VALTELLINA DOC / Varietal(s): NEBBIOLO --- In the far north of Lombardy, almost to the Swiss border, lies the alpine valley of Valtellina, an area with a wine-producing history over 2,000 years old. From the Plozza Vini Tirano co-op, this classic Rosso di Valtellina is garnet in color, with aromas of dried cherries, rose water, tar, and earth. 100% nebbiolo, its mountain origins lend it a relatively light-medium body, with more cherries and currants on the palate, along with gamey, leather notes and a finish of earthy, dusty tannins. Rustic, dry, and clean, this goes beautifully with BBQ, baked beans, or roasted pork loin. One of our new Daily Deals, this is a great introduction to the region, and a great value to boot.
