Le Meurger Bourgogne AOC Blanc 2014
Country: FRANCE / Region: BURGUNDY / Appellation: BOURGOGNE AOC / Varietal(s): CHARDONNAY --- This classic white Burgundy is produced specifically for the US market. In some cases this can lead to wines that seek to follow a certain style. Le Meurger, however, has happily followed the style of the Burgundy region. Two of the three parcels come from a co-op in Chassagne-Montrachet and are fermented and aged only in stainless steel. A third parcel offers a bit more complexity and is thus aged in oak briefly. The wine offers a whiff of oak with a hint of nuttiness giving it a layered style. Plenty of mineral-y fruit rollercoasters on the palate with a refreshing finish. We are thrilled to have this wine at this price. It's sure to impress wine savvy family and friends and made even better with roast chicken or stewed chickpea with leeks and rosemary.
Tenuta La Pergola Monferrato DOC Rosso 2015
Country: ITALY / Region: PIEDMONT / Appellation: MONFERRATO DOC / Varietal(s): BARBERA+CROATINA+FREISA+DOLCETTO+BONARDO --- This fresh and lively red has everything one could want in an autumn sipper. From Italy's Piedmont region, this is a delectable blend of both well-known and fairly obscure grape varietals. Bright red (think juicy cherries) and black fruit dance across the palate before finishing dry with a food-friendly savoriness. An earthy, slightly rustic character makes this the ideal companion to all sorts of hearty casseroles and bean stews – perfect for impromptu cold weather gatherings of family and friends!
