REFRESHING WARM WEATHER WINES: ISRAELI WHITE AND AUSTRIAN ROSÉ!

Golan Heights Winery "Mount Hermon" White Galilee 2014

Country: ISRAEL / Region: GALILEE / Appellation: GALILEE / Varietal(s): CHARDONNAY+SAUVIGNON BLANC+ SEMILLON --- The Golan Heights in Israel enjoys similar conditions for winemaking as other more widely known regions, such as Bordeaux or Tuscany. The Galilee region is the most northern, and most prized, appellation in Israel, and the highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights, the coldest region in the country. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 1,300 to 3,900 feet above sea level and receive snowfall in the winter. Taking advantage of the cool high altitude climate, variable topography, and volcanic balsaltic soil, Golan Heights Winery has been considered Israel's leading winery in technological innovation as well as quality since its founding in 1983 in the town of Katzrin. The Mount Hermon White is a medium-bodied blend of classic aromatic varietals that's vibrant and lively – perfect for warm weather! Mouthwatering notes of green apple, lime, tangerine, and guava are enhanced by aromas of fresh flowers and crushed grass. Delicious with crispy fish and chips, grilled chicken breasts, or even assorted sushi.

Zum Martin Sepp Zweigelt Rosé Weinland 2016
Country: AUSTRIA / Region: WEINLAND / Appellation: WEINLAND / Varietal(s): ZWEIGELT --- This zweigelt rosé hails from one of Vienna’s most esteemed wineries, operated for generations by the Martin family. Current winemaker Michael Martin took over the helm in the 80s, switching the focus from quantity to quality, with “Innovation, stubbornness, and a little bit of madness” as his motto. Martin is also the official winemaker for Life Ball, Europe’s largest charity event dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS. This is the perfect refreshment for al fresco dining; light- bodied, dry, with aromas of lemon zest, strawberries, and crushed seashells. Delicate touches of sour cherry and bright red strawberry on the palate mingle with more lemon and mineral tones for a clean, precise finish that makes this a fresh and versatile choice to pair with anything from grilled arctic char to hotdogs. A favorite for picnics and barbecues!
