Château Bas Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence AOP Blanc 2016 - CERTIFIED ORGANIC

Country: FRANCE / Region: PROVENCE / Appellation: COTEAUX D'AIX-EN-PROVENCE AOP / Varietal(s): GRENACHE BLANC+MARSANNE+ROUSSANNE+VIOGNIER ---  Located in the heart of the Aix-en-Provence region, Château Bas dates back to Roman times. The château itself was built on the site of a Gallo-Roman city and was restored in the 17th century, while the grounds are rich in woods and small valleys that provide a terroir well-suited to viniculture. This crisp new arrival is a lovely blend of organically grown grenache blanc, marsanne, roussanne, and viognier grapes. The combination provides an inviting bouquet of white flowers, lemon curd, and green apple on a soft-textured palate, with refreshing acidity on the finish. It makes a great aperitif or companion to light summer fare like stir-fried rice noodles with tofu and veggies.

Elvio Tintero Barbera Rosato Frizzante NV - SUSTAINABLY GROWN
Country: ITALY / Region: PIEDMONT / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): BARBERA+FAVORITA+MOSCATO --- In 1900, a Frenchman named Pierre Tintero set out for Piedmont in search of work, ending up at the small estate of widow Rosina Cortese, where he helped her with odd jobs and soon became an indispensable part of the estate. Eventually, "Pietrin", as he was called by the locals, and Rosina fell in love and were married, continuing to work the vines together, and bottling their first vintage of dolcetto in 1914 just as war broke out. A stash of this first bottling was found years later by their grandson, hidden in the walls of the cellar as a precaution against ransacking troops passing through the area. Pietrin and Rosina’s two sons, Giovanni and Carlo, eventually took over the estate and expanded it by purchasing adjacent vineyard plots. In the 1980s Carlo’s son Elvio began experimenting with the challenging process of frizzante wine production, allowing the family to take advantage of the moscato grape’s special affinity to the local terroir. Elvio has now handed the reins over to the next generation, but he continues to help his son Marco and daughter-in-law Cinzia run the estate. 90% barbera, this rosé gets its fun-loving spritz from a secondary fermentation upon the addition of 5% each of favorita and moscato. Lightly fizzy, this is an irresistible combination of wild strawberry, watermelon, rose petal, and delicate green almond notes. Juicy acidity and a soft, spritzy texture add up to an incredibly refreshing, versatile addition to your summer rosé collection! A winner with fresh shrimp salad or chipotle-lime grilled cauliflower.
