Montesissa Emilio Syrah "Rio Fratta" Vino Rosso 2016 - ORGANICALLY GROWN + LOW INTERVENTION

Country: ITALY / Region: EMILIA-ROMAGNA / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): SYRAH --- Montesissa Emilio is located in Case Biasini, in the hills of Val Chero in Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy. Grapes have been cultivated in the area since the time of the ancient Romans. For three generations, the Montesissa family has made wines by, in their words, “lovingly respecting nature and biological cycles”. The winery covers a surface area of about 10 hectares, three of which are vineyards, organically and biodynamically farmed. The rest is arable land and woods, which enables the crop rotation essential to protect biodiversity. Winemaker Elisabetta Montesissa focuses on producing expressive, unconventional wines full of character. Hand harvested grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts, and bottled unfiltered. This light, savory syrah is fresh and spicy, with vegetal peppery aromas and light, smooth tannins on the finish. Lovely with butternut squash ravioli.
