Vinaccio Grillo Vino da Tavola Bianco NV
Country: ITALY / Region: SICILY / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): GRILLO --- Vinaccio is a collaboration between Birk O’Halloran and Karl Antle (the pair behind the California brand Iconic Wine), and winemaker Tim Manning, who in 2006 created a brand called Vinochisti. Vinochisti was founded on the concept of sourcing old Italian grape varietals but to treat them with innovative techniques and natural winemaking methods, without following any convention or tradition. (The Vino da Tavola appellation frees him up from having to follow any rules regarding typical winemaking or aging for those areas.) In 2016, Vinaccio was created to offer value-oriented wines following the same philosophy as the wines of Vinochisti. Grillo is a Sicilian grape thought to be used in Julius Caesar's favorite wines. Not quite as well known nowadays, this wine's rich texture, rounded acidity, opulent tropical fruit notes (think passion fruit and guava!) and silky smooth finish make this the perfect seasonal match with roasted fowl and semi-hard cheese plates.
Domaine de Petit Roubié "Nature de Roubie" Vin de France 2017 - CERTIFIED ORGANIC + LOW INTERVENTION
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC / Appellation: VIN DE FRANCE / Varietal(s): CARIGNAN+GRENACHE --- Floriane and Olivier Azan purchased Château Petit Roubié in 1981 and converted it into an organic farm in 1995. By 2012, they were the only certified organic estate in the entire region of Picpoul de Pinet, near Sete, along the Mediterrean coast. Nature de Roubié is a zero-added-sulfur blend of carignan and grenache, uninhibited and simply bursting with fresh cherries and raspberries. A core of underlying spiciness makes this a great companion to charcuterie or pot-au-feu. Great to grab for your next dinner party or impromptu get-together!
Cellar Rendé Masdéu Conca de Barberà Trepat del Jordiet 2015 - CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Country: SPAIN / Region: PENEDÈS / Appellation: CONCA DE BARBERÀ DO / Varietal(s): TREPAT --- The Rendé family has some serious winemaking credentials with history in southern Penedès, traceable to 1604. And it’s still a family affair. Brothers Rendé Masdéu, Josep Maria and Joan decided to modernize the winery in 1991 with major infrastructure improvements and renewed focus on wines of quality. They are also committed to preserving their land through organic farming practices. 100% trepat (a native varietal of the region), from dry farmed estate owned vineyards, this cuvée is wild yeast fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged for 6 months on the lees and amphora (a technique favored by the Romans). The bare minimum of sulfur is added at bottling if necessary. Bright cherry red in color, this offers up subtle notes of red berries and spices on the nose, followed by a fresh, generous palate of currant and pomegranate, wrapped in a layer of bright spiciness. A great match with ham croquetas!
