It leads you." Those are the words Stéphane Tissot lives by, having worked biodynamically since 2004, and with his wife, Bénédicte, striving to express the character of the Jura terroir above all else. The Tissot family has been producing wine in the Jura since 1962, with Stéphane and Bénédicte taking the reins from his parents, André and Mireille, and acquiring a formidable reputation as being among the region's top winemakers. This wine is a full-bodied bubbly that will elevate just about any occasion. Rich deep gold in color sparkling with streams of fine bubbles, opulent aromas of yeast, pear, and lemon zest give way to refined notes of orchard fruit, flowers and almonds on the palate supported by a lively, mineral-driven finish. Yves Cuilleron Viognier Collines Rhodaniennes IGP "Les Vignes d'à Côté" 2017 - SUSTAINABLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: RHÔNE VALLEY / Appellation: COLLINES RHODANIENNES IGP / Varietal(s): VIOGNIER --- The Cuilleron domaine was founded in 1920 and has been home to several generations of winemakers since. Located in the hamlet of Verlieu, part of the town of Chavanay, Yves Cuilleron took over ownership of the domaine in 1987 and has focused on modernization, building a brand new facility and acquiring additional vineyard property, where he practices mostly organic vineyard techniques. Yields are rigorously controlled, and grapes are harvested by hand, as most of the vineyards are heavily terraced, making mechanization impossible. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel using native yeasts, then spends six months on the lees in stainless steel and neutral oak barrels before bottling. This 100% viognier is bright yellow in color, with dense aromas of stone fruits and tangerine on a spicy nose. Juicy and brisk on the palate, it offers up fleshy ripe pear and nectarine flavors and a hint of pithy citrus zest. Mouthwatering acidity offers good lift on the finish, while lingering notes of spice and orchard fruit make this a beautiful choice with mild creamy curries, chicken tagine, sweet roasted root vegetables, or buttery cheeses!

Anne-Sophie Dubois "L'Alchimiste" Fleurie AOC 2016 - ORGANICALLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: BURGUNDY-BEAUJOLAIS / Appellation: FLEURIE AOC / Varietal(s): GAMAY ---  "L'Alchimiste" is named after the Paulo Coelho novel, a book about pursuing one's dreams and learning life lessons along the way. Now approaching rock star-like status in Beaujolais, Anne-Sophie Dubois is part of a young generation of winemakers redefining the region's image. Born and raised in Champagne, she spent her early years learning wine in Volnay, Burgundy (not exactly the traditional story of a Beaujolais winemaker!) Beaujolais remains one of the few wine regions in France not economically out of reach for a young vigneron, and after falling in love with the gamay grape, Anne-Sophie now calls Fleurie home. Her domaine is composed of eight hectares in the heart of Fleurie that are planted on granite slopes and organically farmed, with most of her plots of considerable age, the oldest being over 60 years old. She brings a Burgundian approach to her winemaking, keeping things low-key in the cellar by using a wooden press, native yeasts, and gravity feeds to cement vats and huge used barrels for fermentation and aging. 100% destemmed gamay, "L'Alchimiste" comes from vines over forty years old, and is aged for around 15 months in a combination of cement and a range of different sized neutral oak barrels. Anne-Sophie bottles her wines unfined and unfiltered. This cuvée boasts a wild, perfumed bouquet of cherries, dark berries, licorice and a touch of gaminess. Beautifully balanced on the palate, it remains lively, with cherry, blackberry, and currant flavors mingling with delicate acidity, supple tannin, and a touch of weight and texture on the finish. An elegant offering altogether, pair this with roast pork loin.
