Kings County Distillery Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A --- Kings County Distillery’s Straight Bourbon is made from New York State organic corn and malted barley from the U.K., which is twice distilled in copper pot stills and then aged in new charred oak barrels. Aged for at least two years, this bourbon is surprisingly muscular for its age, with rich aromas of fresh corn, sweet caramelized oak sap (from small barrels), and a strong sweet base that balances flavors of caramel and vanilla with deep molasses notes and touches of cinnamon and baking spices on a smooth finish.
Kings County Distillery Peated Bourbon Whiskey
Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A --- As far as we're aware, this is the world's only peated bourbon! A real treat for the adventurous whiskey drinker, this is the love child of American bourbon and single malt Scotch! Technically, this is a bourbon that adheres to the American requirements for bourbon but is also made with malted barley that has been exposed to peat smoke, a practice traditional to Scotch whiskies. (The malt in this whiskey is even grown and kilned in Scotland.) The result of this glorious experiment is a Scotch-like bourbon, flavorful and robust, with the bonus of a light smoky finish that evokes a Single Malt. The rich character of bourbon (and smokiness from new barrels) lends itself to pairing well with peat, resulting in notes of candy corn, BBQ spice, campfire embers, and toasted coconut. Beautifully complex, this is a must try for any bourbon OR Scotch fan!
Kings County Distillery Single Malt Whiskey
Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A --- This Single Malt Whiskey is made almost exactly like a Single Malt Scotch—except that instead of being made in Scotland, it’s made in Brooklyn. It is open-fermented off the grain from malted barley (with a hint of smoky peat) sourced from England and Scotland. The whiskey is twice distilled in traditional Scottish pot stills, then aged for 1.5 to 4 years in barrels previously used to make Kings County bourbon. Slightly higher in proof than Kings County's American-style offerings, this packs a greater wallop than its smooth palate would suggest. Elegant and dry, it displays sophisticated notes of honey, burnt orange peel, peat, and hay. A perfect addition to any Scotch lover's collection.
Kings County Distillery Chocolate Whiskey
Country: USA / Region: NEW YORK STATE / Appellation: N/A / Varietal(s): N/A --- Looking for a Valentine's Day treat that's off the beaten track? How about chocolate whiskey made with moonshine? A word with a romantic history all its own, moonshine can refer to "white whiskey" (whiskey before barrel aging), or more famously, to any illegally made spirit. This (legal) version is a corn whiskey made from 80% New York State organic corn and 20% malted barley, double distilled and reduced to a smooth 80 proof, then infused with ground cacao bean husks from Mast Brothers Chocolate, whose factory is nearby. Pleasantly bitter, this rich whiskey tastes like liquefied dark chocolate (minus the sugar!), and works brilliantly in cocktails or on its own as an after-dinner drink.
