Jo Landron "Amphibolite" Muscadet Sèvre et Maine AOP Sur Lie 2017 - CERTIFIED BIODYNAMIC + LOW INTERVENTION
Country: FRANCE / Region: LOIRE VALLEY / Appellation: MUSCADET SÈVRE ET MAINE AOC / Varietal(s): MELON DE BOURGOGNE --- Over the past several years, there appears to be a growing consensus that Muscadet is one of the best and most consistent values in white wine. Made from the grape Melon de Bourgogne, Muscadet is the classic companion to briny oysters and shellfish. Jo Landron worked with his father for 12 years before continuing on his own. Landron drastically re-shaped this estate, making it one of the most respected in the appellation while simultaneously helping to put Muscadet on the map. Now acclaimed as one of the top producers in Muscadet, Landron has been completely organic since 1999 and is now certified biodynamic, using no chemicals of any kind in the vines, harvesting by hand, and fermenting with native yeast. The "Amphibolite" cuvée derives its name from the greenish, metamorphic bedrock that makes up the soils in which the grapes are grown. Produced from vines aged between 25-40 years old, it is vinified with only a short time on its lees to retain as much freshness and minerality as possible, and sees only the barest minimum of sulfur. Bottling occurs early, in February, again to preserve the essence of the wine, without filtration. Muscadet as a simple, neutral, quaffing white? Au contraire! A pure, low-alcohol offering, this bursts with crunchy minerals, zesty citrus, lime leaf, and crab apple notes. Exuberant acidity keeps it light and lively, while a generous dash of salinity on that iconic mineral finish just screams out for shellfish!

Domaine Vetriccie Rosé Corse AOP 2017
Country: FRANCE / Region: CORSICA / Appellation: CORSE AOP / Varietal(s): NIELLUCCIU+SCIACCARELLU+GRENACHE --- A breathtaking Mediterranean island (off the West coast of Italy, just North of Sardinia), Corsica has a winemaking tradition that's over 2,500 years old, but only recently gaining popularity here in the US. The appellation Vin de Corse is situated towards the eastern side of the island, between mountains and the sea, where the terroir is defined by clay sediments left over from the evaporation of the ancient Miocene sea, lending these wines a distinctive minerality and character. Located near the town of Aghione, on the Costa Serena, the Vetriccie estate was acquired by the Barcelo family in 1966, encompassing over 120 hectares. (Vetriccie is a Corsican wicker that grows near the vineyards and stands as a symbol of their wild nature.) The little-known grape, niellucciu, has long been planted in Corsica, and along with another regional varietal, sciaccarellu, lends this gorgeous rosé an aromatic profile and personality all its own. Accented by a touch of grenache in the blend, this wine is super dry and oh-so-refreshing, packed with lovely citrus and mineral notes. Think blood orange and white cherries dancing across a cool, stony frame, accented with a splash of acidity and sea spray! Enjoy this as the perfect aperitif, to accompany a salad of shaved fennel, blood orange, and almonds with grilled shrimp, or with simple bruschetta and fresh mozzarella.

Chåteau Coujan "Cuvée Terrasses" Herault IGP 2017 - CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Country: FRANCE / Region: LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON / Appellation: HERAULT IGP / Varietal(s): SYRAH+MOURVÈDRE+MERLOT+GRENACHE --- The Guy family settled in the Domaine de Coujan in 1868. Located near St. Chinian, François Guy planted grapes on a bed of fossilized coral and sandy limestone. Today, his daughter Florence is in charge of the estate. The domaine covers an area of 54 hectares, with vines situated on hillsides, and began the conversion to organic viticulture in 2008. Now certified organic, the estate is an oasis of biodiversity. A sumptuous blend of syrah, with bits of mourvèdre, merlot, and grenache adding complexity to the blend, this is surprisingly light on its feet, just perfect for steamy summer nights. Juicy red fruit melds with notes of crushed herbs, hints of licorice, and a savory, umami character with a finish of dusty tannins. Pure and fresh,  this is great with a light chill! Take advantage of the influx of summer produce and consider this a BLT's BFF!
