Domaine de la Bregeonnette Gros-Plant du Pays Nantais AOC 2017 - ORGANICALLY GROWN
Country: FRANCE / Region: LOIRE VALLEY / Appellation: GROS PLANT DU PAYS NANTAIS AOC / Varietal(s): FOLLE BLANCHE --- Domaine de la Bregeonette was a pioneer of organic agriculture in the Loire Valley, and the wines continue to be defined by clear precision and finesse. We've already enjoyed their delightful Muscadet, and now we've got another winner, this time produced from an obscure grape called folle blanche, sometimes known as gros plant. Folle blanche is a robust, high-acid grape that yields an amazingly refreshing white wine in the Loire: crisp, zesty and so bright you might need to break out the sunglasses! With notes of citrus, lime zest, limestone, white flowers, and a splash of beachy salinity on the finish, this wine is just what you need to banish those winter blues! Fire up some fish tacos and Netflix and prepare to break out of the cold weather doldrums without leaving your living room!

Manos Andinas Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Cachapoal Valley DO 2015
Country: CHILE / Region: CACHAPOAL VALLEY / Appellation: CACHAPOAL VALLEY DO / Varietal(s): CABERNET SAUVIGNON --- Winemaker Vicente Johnson traveled the length and breadth of Chile in his quest to find growers in his preferred microclimates that would achieve the results he wants on his wines. These small growers were all practicing sustainable viticulture for generations, but were not connected to the international market until Vicente helped them technically and economically to properly vinify their grapes and deliver their product to a wider audience. The small lots produced by each grower are vinified separately to preserve the maximum expression and character. Vicente and his partners are committed to supporting local farmers and their communities, training them and paying fair prices for their grapes. As almost all of their work in the vineyards is done by hand, the name Manos Andinas, or “Hands of the Andes” honors their hard work and commitment. Located just over 50 miles south of Santiago, the Cachapoal Valley is heavily influenced by the Andes Mountains: winter rains combined with warm and dry summers provide ideal conditions for cabernet. 100% cabernet sauvignon, grapes for this cuvée are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks with gentle pump overs before aging in selected French oak for over 6 months. Medium-bodied, fleshy blackberry and currant flavors are generous without verging on jammy, while green vegetal notes add intrigue and a cool, savory character. A great new addition to your stable of hearty winter values, cab drinkers looking for an everyday sipper will be happy campers here, while merlot lovers will also want to jump on board! Delicious with meatloaf or vegetarian shepherd's pie.
