Conveniently located on Beacon’s lively West End at 180 Main Street,
Artisan Wine Shop is 1 1/2 blocks from Route 9D, and just a few blocks from I-84. We are within walking distance to Dia:Beacon, the Metro-North Beacon train station and the Newburgh-Beacon ferry. The Beacon Shuttle stops right across the street.

Artisan Wine Shop is inviting and spacious, offering a hand-picked selection of tasty, well-made and affordable wines, as well as spirits. Most of the wines are food-friendly and ready-to-drink, and just like a restaurant wine list, the wines are arranged by flavor profile, from light whites to full-bodied reds. We’ve found great wines at reasonable prices to encourage customers to experiment with different styles, varietals and regions.

We’re both Culinary Institute of America graduates, and we are excited to share our love of food and wine in this unique setting. We’ve built a kitchen in the wine store for tasting events and cooking demonstrations. We’re also available as wine consultants, and can lead private tastings and events.

With exposed brick walls and restored hardwood floors in the front portion of the shop, and slate-like sealed concrete floors in the rear, Artisan Wine Shop combines the traditional with the contemporary in both design and wine selections.

Our wines

You won’t find the ordinary group of labels here and that’s a good thing. We specialize in lesser-known smaller-production wines that represent a comprehensive survey of winegrowing regions and varietals. We put a great deal of time and effort into finding well-balanced, great-tasting wines, sometimes tasting over a hundred wines a week. We’ve tasted everything in the shop and have personally chosen the wines for their overall quality, value, and food pairing abilities. You can trust you’re going to get a well-made bottle whatever style you happen to choose.

Our service

Our customer service starts with our spacious, thoughtfully designed wine shop and our well-priced, delicious selection. From there, we enhance your shopping experience with weekly wine & food tastings and personal assistance with your wine choices, whether to match your dinner plans, your palate or your gift idea. And if you have special favorites that we don’t carry, we’d be happy to order them for you if available.

Wine with food

Most foods can be enhanced with a glass of wine. And vice versa. We love food so much that we’ve put in a glorious kitchen in our shop. There’s a wine for every food, and often, there are many wines for every food. You’ll get a taste of both at our weekly wine tastings to help you explore the relationship between the two.

And because we’re attentive to food, we’ve organized our selection by flavor profile (light-, medium-, and full-bodied), much like you might find on a restaurant wine list. This gives you a starting point – you might choose your wine by matching the weight of your dish to the weight of the wine. Or you can just decide that you love a certain style of wine, and that’s fine too. We think you should drink what you want, but if you’re interested, we’re here to offer suggestions that might make it an even better dining experience.
