The Agrapart et Fils house is situated in the village of Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. It was established in 1894, and they have been estate bottling and selling their wines under their own labels since inception, unlike many other smaller grower Champagne houses. It is now run by fourth generation vigneron, Pascal Agrapart, with his brother Fabrice, continuing with the tradition of making superior, hand-crafted wines from predominantly Grand Cru villages. To ensure the highest possible quality, production has always been limited, capping the amount of cases produced at 5,400 in any given year. They have mostly old vines, with many averaging 60 years in age, and they have farmed organically for years (without certification or publicizing it). Their nonvintage “7 Crus” cuvée is a blend of 90% chardonnay and 10% pinot noir from 1er and Grand Cru vineyards in 7 villages surrounding Avize. This Champagne beautifully synthesizes pure and opulent fruit with a racy, structured minerality that gives the wine superb length and cut. It is drinking beautifully now but will develop more complexities over the next 10-15 years. Organically grown.
