Founded by one of Napoleon's generals, and still owned by the same family, Champagne André Clouet has a reputation as a pinot noir specialist even within Bouzy, an appellation renowned for its pinot. From all Grand Cru vineyards, the wines are cellared under the family's 17th century village house, built by an ancestor who was printer to the royal court of Louis XV (a history reflected in the elegant label design). The Clouet ‘Grande Réserve’ is arguably one of the best Champagne values out there: 100% pinot noir from all grand cru vineyards, it is complex and classic in style. Layers of red fruit, and hints of pear, citrus, and white flower are all supported by delicate minerality and subtle brioche notes. The texture on the palate is elegant and silky, with a luxuriously long finish.
