The Tissot family has been producing wine in the Jura since 1962, with Stéphane and Bénédicte taking the reins from his parents, André and Mireille. They have since acquired a formidable reputation as being among the region's top winemakers, farming biodynamically since 2004 and striving to express the character of the Jura terroir above all else. Arbois is a commune located within Jura, about 30 miles west of Switzerland. It's an insular area that specializes in unique renditions of both classic and little-known grapes. Poulsard (also spelled as ploussard) is one of the iconic native red grapes of the Jura, and the grapes here come from old vines planted between 1942 and 1972 and vinified in clay amphora. It unfurls a delicate bouquet of ripe red fruit, spicy rose petals, and whiffs of earth and incense. On the palate it is light and vivacious, crackling with energy and displaying mouthwatering acidity over layers of red currants, cherries, cranberries, and a distinctive mineral core. Biodynamically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
