Vineyard/Cellar Practices Sustainably Grown

Anselma Giacomo was founded in the early twentieth century by Felice Anselma. Third-generation winemaker Franco Anselma and his wife Maria continue the traditional farming and winemaking practices of his grandfather. All vineyard holdings are within the Serralunga d’Alba commune, much of which is contained in the famous VignaRonda cru. The grapes for this Langhe Nebbiolo bottling are all sourced from vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba composed of clayey marl, interspersed with sandstone. After the grapes are picked, vinification occurs in concrete tanks for roughly three weeks with frequent pumping over. The wine is then aged for at least 12 -16 months in traditional large Slavonian oak barrels (30-40 hl). We find aromas of licorice root, roses, and potent red berry fruit. Tannins are well-integrated and dense yet giving the wine a pleasing structure and some grip. With a little time to breathe this wine really soars.
