|Grapes||Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Lemberger|
John and Ann Martini moved to Anthony Road, in the Finger Lakes, in 1973 from Baltimore to grow grapes in New York’s wine country. Neither of them had an agricultural background, but they worked hard to learn fast, dedicated to maintaining sustainable farming practices. Their son Peter grew up on the farm, and went on to earn a degree in business management, working in Wyoming for nine years before returning to the family winery as manager of vineyard operations. Devonian refers to the name of a period of geological history in the Finger Lakes that left sedimentary rocks in the soil, which make it ideal for growing wine grapes. This red blend consists of 55% cabernet franc, 31% pinot noir, and 14% lemberger (also called blaufränkisch). A versatile sipper, this wine is light and approachable with generous fruit. Sustainably grown.
