Domaine Blard & Fils produces organically-grown wines from high-altitude vineyards in the Alps. Thomas, who has now largely taken over operations from his father, Jean-Noël, has focused particular attention to the domaine’s jaquère and altesse whites. Those emblematic Savoie grapes have gained recognition across the region and beyond. Their ‘Micraster’ is 100% jacquère, from 30-year-old vines in the Abymes subregion. After fermentation with native yeasts, it ages for three months in stainless steel. Herbaceous and packed with minerality and citrus, with a zing of green apple skin on the finish, this alpine white pairs just as well with a summer campfire as an après-ski fireplace gathering.
