|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Organically Grown, Low-Intervention/Natural Wine, Vegan|
Bojo do Luar is a collaborative effort between importer Savio Soares and biodynamic viticulturist Antonio Sousa. Inspired by the techniques of biodynamic producer Fernando Paiva (a winemaking legend in Vinho Verde), Antonio began to experiment with non-interventionist winemaking in his own cellar, as well as practicing biodynamic viticulture in his vineyards. Parcels are situated on the deep granitic soils near the Tâmega River in Vinho Verde, not far from where it empties into the Douro. This delightful new rosé is made of 60% tinta caõ and 30% vinhão (both red grapes), as well as 10% loureiro. The grapes were sourced from a small organic producer in Marco de Canavese, in Vinho Verde. Vinhão is intensely pigmented, so time on the skins is kept to a minimum, resulting in a bright salmon hued bottle. The red grapes were fermented spontaneously in concrete and stainless steel with chestnut flowers added as a stabilizer, then blended with the loureiro. The wine is bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur. Incredibly aromatic and zesty, this unfurls generous aromas of cherry blossom, gardenia, and tropical fruit and flowers, while the palate offers tart, zippy flavors of Rainier cherry, berries, and hibiscus. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
