Boschkloof was established in 1995 on the rolling hills of Stellenbosch, set against the dramatic mountain backdrop this part of South Africa is famed for. The estate is named after the natural ravine (“kloof”) on the property and features soils of mostly decomposed granite (washed down from those mountains) and koffieklip (“coffeestone”, an iron-rich conglomerate). Made from hand harvested cabernet sauvignon and merlot, this bottle displays aromas of espresso, cacao, red plum, and green pepper. Full bodied and plush in texture, it offers up generous plum, blackberry, and cassis layers accompanied by eucalyptus and spice on the finish. Dusty tannins provide structure while maintaining the overall cozy character.
