Dana and Scott Frank, makers of Bow & Arrow in 2010, were inspired by Loire Valley wines and they are the inspiration for their own, using Loire Valley varietals like melon de Bourgogne, gamay, and chenin blanc. They have started making wines with other French varietals as well, including pinot noir and sauvignon blanc. Many have noted the similarities in climate and latitude between the Willamette Valley and the Loire Valley (as well as Burgundy). They were inspired by vignerons like Didier Barouillet of Clos Roche Blanche, who served as an over-the-phone consultant for the project. This offering is 100% melon de Bourgogne, better known as Muscadet where it thrives in the Loire. They source the grapes from multiple vineyards and age in vat for 6-8 months. It echoes the Loire in that it is briny and thirst quenching with lively acidity and minerality. At the same time, a slight spritz and spicy ginger apple flavors mark a unique departure from its French models. Sustainably grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
