Broc Cellars, founded by Chris Brockway, has proven that California wines can be sustainably grown, incomparably tasty, and affordable all at once. For this seventh bottling of Broc’s Love Red, the grapes came from vines over 70 years old, situated in Solano County’s Green Valley and Mendocino County. Green Valley is a small strip of land, about three miles long and a mile wide, tucked between the south-eastern corner of Napa Valley and the southwestern edge of Suisun Valley. It’s unique in that it still contains many of its old-vine carignan and valdiguié vineyards on clay-loam soils. This edition of the Love Red consists of 52% carignan, 42% zinfandel, and 6% grenache noir, and, like all Broc Cellars wines, uses native yeast for fermentation. Bright and joyful, this juicy, light-bodied red will have you falling, well, in love! Graceful on the palate, it offers up plenty of clean dark berries, including wild blueberry, blackberry, and mulberry, hints of spicy anise, and vibrant acidity. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
