The Burlotto estate is located in the commune of Verduno in the Barolo DOCG, and was established in the mid-18th century by Giovan Battista Burlotto, il Commendatore. The historic estate (which once held the title of “Supplier to the Savoy Royal Household”), is now distinguished for its Monvigliero Barolo, from the famed Monvigliero cru, coveted for its south-facing exposure and white marl soil. Now run by Mariana Burlotto (Giovan’s great-niece), and her husband Giuseppe Alessandria, along with their son, Fabio, the winery produces classically-styled Barolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera. Harvest is done by hand, and fermentation takes place in French oak vats. It’s aged in large Slavonian and Allier oak barrels for 2 ½ - 3 years and in bottle for an additional year.  The Barolo is packed with flavor and concentration, featuring spicy plum and cherries with tons of structure on the palate and hints of tobacco and wild dark fruit. Organically grown, vegan.
