Camp wines were created by winemaker extraordinaire Kenny Likitprakong of Hobo Wine Co. in 2013 to highlight the quality and value of Sonoma County wine. Kenny works with top growers and vineyard managers to source responsibly-farmed fruit from lesser-known vineyards throughout Sonoma County. This allows them to produce delicious wines that also remain great values. This 2019 merlot is 60% from the organically-farmed Mojon's Bench in Alexander Valley and 40% from the organically-farmed Morrison Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. Each lot was fermented separately and blended in March of 2020. Aged in neutral oak, this is a straight-forward, yet refined style of merlot, that makes a nod to Bordeaux in terms of finesse. Kenny strikes a great balance between fruit, herb, spice and acid/tannin structure. Perfect with a skirt steak with roasted mushroom and onion tamales.
