The Talamonti vineyards sit at 300 meters above sea level, near the village of Loreto Aprutino in the Abruzzo region northeast of Rome. The area displays incredible geologic variety and biodiversity: above them to the west lies the Ghiacciaio del Calderone, Europe’s southernmost glacier, and the Adriatic Sea is not far away to the northeast. The Redmont-Di Tonno family founded Talamonti in 2001, with a focus on native varieties montepulciano and trebbiano. The addition of pecorino came in 2004. Not to be confused with the cheese of the same name, pecorino is a very old white grape that originated in the Sibillini Mountains of the Marche to the north of Abruzzo. Talamonti’s “Trabocchetto” pecorino displays beautiful savory, herbal aromas of chamomile, lemongrass, and jasmine, followed by pear and apple flavors and citrus freshness. Sustainably grown, vegan.
