|Appellation/Sub-Region||Provincia di Pavia IGP|
|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Certified Organic, Low-Intervention/Natural Wine, Vegan|
If you’ve ever wanted to spend an afternoon sipping natural wines on the terrace of a fourteenth-century castle—looking out over meadows, forests, and orchards—keep your passport up to date for when such an excursion is possible again. In the meantime, at least you can have the same taste experience with this orange wine produced at the castle. Though not as well-known as other wine-growing regions of northern Italy, Lombardy (and the Province of Pavia in particular) provides good terrain for various kinds of grapes. This chardonnay-cortese blend comes from 30-year-old vines, hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, with four weeks of skin contact and six months on its lees. Lightly funky (but not sour) this provides herbaceous notes of apricot, tarragon, and a hint of barnyard earth. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
