|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Biodynamically Grown, Low-Intervention/Natural Wine, Vegan|
John Raytek and Phoebe Bass of Ceritas make exquisitely-crafted chardonnay and pinot noir from carefully chosen sites in the Sonoma Coast and Russian River regions. John is the winemaker and Phoebe is the farmer; not owning their own vineyards has given them a vested interest in finding what they believe to be the most varietally expressive sites in the North Coast, with a commitment to organic and sustainable farming methods. They favor minimal intervention in the cellar, but are not dogmatic about it. This ‘Marena’ chardonnay draws from the Charles Heintz, Porter-Bass, and Occidental Valley vineyards. Extended lees contact in neutral barrels lends a rich texture on the palate, while energetic brightness and minerality accent delicious pear, apple, and peach flavors. It is intended to be enjoyed young, though it certainly has the potential to age for at least a couple more years. Biodynamically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
