René Geoffroy and his son Jean-Baptiste farm the 14 hectares of their family’s estate in the Vallée de la Marne sustainably, preferring to plant cover crops than to use chemical herbicides in the vineyard. This 2008 vintage Champagne comes from the vineyards of the 1er cru village of Cumières, the home turf of the Geoffroy family for four centuries. It consists of 70% old-vine pinot meunier from the sandstone and tuffeau soils of the site known as Tiersaudes and 30% chardonnay from the chalky soils of Les chênes. These bottles were disgorged in May 2021. Elegant in texture, with buttery pastry richness from its long bottle aging, it complements citrus notes with a pop of pineapple and lychee. Sustainably grown.
