Benoit Chazallon established Château de la Selve on the site of a conventional winery in 2002, and promptly set about converting all viticulture to organic practices. By 2008 the 100 acre estate had organic certification via ECOCERT. The Château is situated next to a 13th-century castle close to the Rhône River in the Coteaux de l’Ardèche, about 30 miles north of Avignon in the southern Rhône. This delicious organic rosé is a blend of classic Rhône varietals vinified in concrete tank for 6 months: cinsault (40%), grenache (30%), and syrah (25%), with a tiny amount (5%) of viognier to provide aromatic lift. Freshness and elegance is the name of the game here, with delicate layers of red berries and white flowers mingling with distinctive minerality and palate cleansing acidity. Certified biodynamic and organic.
