The vineyards of the Château de Lardiley have been in the Lataste family for more than a century. Vincent Lataste represents the latest generation to manage the properties and steward their beautifully healthy soils, where no chemical pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or sulfites are used in the vineyard. For this wine, the domaine uses the lesser-known, pink-skinned mutation of sauvignon blanc called sauvignon gris. It has found an amenable home in the southwest of France, including along the banks of the Gironde estuary (i.e. Bordeaux). Generally known to be richer than sauvignon blanc, this example of sauvignon gris is nicely crisp. Opening with deliciously autumnal aromas of pear and allspice, it delivers a savory palate brightened by lemon zest. Biodynamically grown, organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
