The Laurent family has established a near-legendary reputation for the wines of Château L’Escart, located in the center of the village of Saint-Loubès. Their vineyard encompasses a single 37 ha block on the fine gravel and clay-limestone soils near the Dordogne River. The Laurent’s passionate respect for their terroir is reflected in their commitment to biodynamic viticulture, a philosophy that extends to the cellar as well, with only wild yeast used in fermentation. The resulting wines of Château L’Escart are sought after for their deft balance of depth and freshness. Château Le Bergey is their entry level label, and represents a fantastic value in Bordeaux! This consistently outstanding offering comes from their estate vineyards, using vines that are a minimum of 15 years old, which impart a concentration and depth often only found in more expensive bottles. 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot, it is fermented with wild yeast and spends 6 months in French oak. Lithe plum and blackberry flavors adorn an earthy, medium-bodied palate that boasts plenty of fresh acidity and well-balanced tannin. This versatile value makes an elegant everyday drinker! Biodynamically grown, organically grown.
