“Tres P” gets its name from winemaker François Chidaine’s nickname Paco, the vineyard owner’s name, also Paco, and the vineyard manager, Pepe…hence, the 3 Ps! The Murcia region is situated in southeastern Spain below Yecla and Jumilla. The town of Bullas dates back to the Roman Empire and has grown grapes as far back as the 12th century. The grapes for “Tres P” are all hand-harvested from 40+ year old bush-pruned monastrell and tempranillo vines planted in the Aceniche Valley near the foothills of the Sierra Espuna mountains, and fermented using indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Farmed organically, the vineyards are located between 800 and 1,000 meters, with the high elevation providing the warm days and cool nights, allowing for full ripeness to develop while still retaining good acidity. This wine is unoaked, with a medium to full body that offers up a blend of fresh and dried red and black fruit flavors as well as notes of spice, licorice, and leather. A perfect partner with winter roasts or hearty stews. Organically grown.
