|Appellation/Sub-Region||Champagne AOC Grand Cru|
|Grapes||Pinot Noir, Chardonnay|
|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Sustainably Grown|
The winemaking history of the Gosset name in Aÿ in goes back to Pierre Gosset in 1584, though the winery known as Champagne Christian Gosset was founded as recently as 2015. Previously, Christian and his brother Michel headed Champagne Gosset-Brabant. The fruits of Christian’s new venture are truly beginning to realize their potential: this assemblage, based on the 2016 vintage, exhibits a depth and complexity that shows the quality of Christian’s winemaking. This Champagne stems from two Grand Cru villages, with 80% pinot noir from the vineyards of the Gosset homeland of Aÿ and 20% chardonnay from Chouilly. This batch of bottles was disgorged in February 2021 with a dosage of 5g/L. Apple, cherry, and citrus unfold into a rich texture on the palate, with a chalky minerality that gives structure to a long finish.
