Technically, the pigs don’t so much fly as steal grapes—volant meaning ‘stealing’ as well as ‘flying’. But the vineyard managers at the Château de Caraguilhes don’t seem to mind too much, since they’ve given them the benefit of the mistranslation in this case. From an estate that has practiced organic farming decades longer than any other in the region, this rosé combines freshness, minerality, and texture in just the right proportion to brighten up any humid summer day. With 135 hectares of vineyards surrounded by 500 hectares of Mediterranean scrubland (garrigue) in the heart of Corbières, Caraguilhes is well situated to benefit from the temperature stabilization of the sea just to the east, as well as the cooling Tramontane wind coming over the mountains from the northwest. Grown on limestone soils, this rosé combines grenache (90%) with a touch of mourvèdre (10%). Bright cherry and fresh strawberry dance with a touch of rose petal and citrus. Certified organic, vegan.
