The Hand Work and Friend and Farmer labels represent the vision of brothers Francisco, Javier, and Luis Parra. They come from La Mancha, an arid, chilly, but fertile elevated plateau in central Spain, just south of Madrid. The brothers joined forces to create wines that celebrate the terroir of their homeland using organically and biodynamically grown grapes. Their Hand Work liter is certified organic as well as vegan, with no sulfites added in the winemaking process. Hand-harvested grapes are fermented with indigenous yeast, and it sees no new oak to fully allow the terroir of sedimentary rock and limestone soils to shine through. Bottled unfined, the tempranillo takes a starring role, clean and juicy. This wine is vivid, ripe, and thirst-quenching but does not lack structure, with some young tannin and acidity. It’s both interesting and fun, making it a perfect everyday wine. Certified organic, vegan.
