|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Organically Grown|
Dashe Cellars was founded by Anne and Michael Dashe in 1996 in Oakland, California. Among the first wave of urban wineries, their focus on traditional winemaking methods and long-standing partnerships with some of the finest growers in Sonoma and Mendocino has led to a well-deserved reputation, in particular for their zinfandels. The 2018 ‘Vineyard Select’ is a blend of 89% zinfandel from a handful of small-production vineyards in Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma County), Contra Costa County, and Clarksburg, with tiny amounts of petite sirah (6%) and teroldego (5%) in the mix to contribute brightness and complexity. Each varietal was fermented separately with ambient yeast, then aged for 14 months in used French oak barrels, adding a well-integrated oak influence that refrains from dominating. Luscious cassis and cocoa notes abound on a rich palate full of spicy dark fruit. The silky texture is lush and mouth coating while remaining fresh and food-friendly. A satisfying match with BBQ, stews, or even pasta night! Organically grown.
