Denis Carré Chardonnay Hautes Côtes de Beaune AOC 2020

Denis Carré, along with his wife, Bernadette, founded their domaine in 1975 in the village of Meloisey. Their children Martial and Gaëtane have since taken over, with Martial in charge of the winemaking, having studied at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune. They have 13ha of sustainably grown vineyards that are located on the most famous hillsides in Burgundy, with some of their vines being as old as 70 years in age. This classically styled chardonnay comes from nearby vineyards. Half is aged in oak (7-10% new) and half in stainless steel, providing a deft balance between purity of fruit, defined minerality, and delicate oak spice. Medium bodied, with succulent flavors of pear and lemon, it delivers mouthwatering tension and salinity, finishing with hints of baking spice and dusty minerals. Sustainably grown, vegan.
