The Kientzler domaine is a small, 5th generation family-run estate with vineyards spanning across several villages north of Colmar in the Haut-Rhin department. Of their 13.8 hectares under vine, 4.4 hectares are classified Grand Cru. Riesling and Gewürztraminer make up about half of the domain’s plantings, with another five varieties - muscat, sylvaner, pinot blanc, pinot gris, and chasselas - contributing to their 6,000 case annual production. The winemaker is focused on producing dry, gastronomic styles that complement the iconic regional cuisine (Alsace is home to the most Michelin-starred restaurants in France!). Kientzler's ‘La Soif’ cuvee took some time to develop, as they tested various grape blends, finally landing on something absolutely refreshing and lovely. The wine is made up of 50% Chasselas, 25% Riesling, 15% Muscat, and 10% Auxerrois, yielding a light bodied white with generous floral and citrus aromatics.
