When Romain Petiteau took charge of the Domaine de la Tourlaudière in 2015, he inherited a family tradition going back perhaps 700 years. Written records of grape vines, in the same location, date to the 14th century. Under Romain’s leadership, the domaine has converted to organic farming and melded modern and traditional winemaking practices. Lees aging gives this “Bohale” a delicious warm creaminess, along with the salty tang one expects from a Muscadet. Subtle aromas of saltwater marsh underpin nutty shortbread notes, rounded out with flavors of golden apple and a hint of citrus on the finish. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
