Domaine de Prion’s Sylvain Chanudet is well known up and down the Saône not only for his own distinctive, unfiltered wines, but also for the vine grafts he supplies to other natural winemakers around the region. Particularly recognized for his Beaujolais reds, this 2015 Pouilly-Fuissé is actually the first white wine Sylvain produced. The experiment, we’d say, was quite a successful one. From a southwest-vineyard known as “Les Chevrières'' perched above the village of Chaintré, this robust chardonnay proudly represents its Burgundian appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé. 18 months’ vinification in cement yields a rich, silky texture cut through with a savory saltiness. Hazelnut aromas mingle with citrus and jasmine. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
