The name of this appellation, Côte-Rôtie (“roasted slope”) refers to the strong sun this particular east-facing hillside receives. Winemaker Patrick Jasmin and his wife Arlette care for eleven parcels, totaling five hectares. All of the work of tending to the vineyards is done by hand, due to the impossibility of using tractors on the steep slopes of the area. This 2014 vintage is just coming into its own in 2020, enrobing itself in dark plum fruit. The floral nose (coming from the 5% of viognier co-fermented with syrah) blends with smoky loganberry and a hint of licorice. This classic expression will charm both Rhône lovers and fans of Bordeaux.
