|Grapes||Mourvèdre, Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir|
|Vineyard/Cellar Practices||Sustainably Grown|
The Roussillon region is just a stone's throw from Spain. Jean-Marc Lafage, in fact, makes wines in both countries. His French wines seem to evoke the modern, polished flavors of Spain while focusing on the indigenous grapes cultivated throughout history. He and his wife, Eliane, farm 160-ha of vineyards located just south of the capital of French Catalonia, Perpignan. Some of the vineyards are situated right on the Mediterannean, while others are in the foothills of the Pyrenees. This climactic range allows them to make both refreshing whites as well as concentrated reds. This lovely rosé is a blend of mainstays mourvèdre, grenache noir, and grenache gris, reminiscent of the nearby ocean, with salty, stony notes and delicate fruit flavors.
