Domaine Mauro Guicheney 'À l’abri du Monde' Blanc Côtes de Duras AOC 2019

The Côtes de Duras sits a bit under the radar. Between the Garonne and the Dordogne east of Bordeaux, the area quietly takes advantage of a unique combination of maritime climate, steep slopes, and limestone-clay soils. Corine Mauro celebrates and honors her native region in the care she takes with the health of her vineyards, as well as her meticulous winemaking. Her farming methods are certified biodynamic as well as organic, and her plots abound with trees and flowers amidst the vines. The name of this blend of sauvignon blanc (70%) and sauvignon gris (30%), ‘À l’abri du monde’, translates to “sheltered from the world.” A delicious and vibrant wine that reflects the pastoral calm of its place of origin. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, it ages for nearly a year on the fine lees, completing at the same time a leisurely malolactic conversion. Subtle peach and a squeeze of citrus lurk behind a pronounced minerality and delightful texture. Certified organic, certified biodynamic, low-intervention/natural wine.
