Lisa Drinkward and Francoise Peschon were introduced to each other by their children and quickly became friends. Francoise is the former winemaker at Araujo vineyards in Napa, while Lisa is the wife of Les Behrens of Behrens & Hitchcock. This wine is made at Behrens & Hitchcock on Spring Mountain. Their friendship bloomed when they realized they shared philosophies about wine and raising children: "Give them a lot of tender loving care, nuture always, then let them go on to express themselves and become the unique individuals they were meant to be." They named their wine "Entre Deux Meres" (between two mothers) and believe that minimal intervention and gentle winemaking are the key to producing elegant, expressive wines. Juggling day jobs, wine making, and motherhood, Lisa and Francoise produce this cabernet in tiny quantities. This beautiful cabernet sauvignon is sourced from select Calistoga vineyards, with small lots of fruit hand sorted, de-stemmed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks before aging for 22 months in French oak, 50% of which is new. A truly stunning bottle, this unfurls layer after layer of black cherry, plum, licorice, spice, and espresso. A voluptuous mouthfeel is expertly balanced with vivid acidity, while the finish offers up nuance and complexity that lingers for ages. Beautiful to drink now, this will also age gracefully. Sustainably grown, vegan.
