Weingut Familie Bauer is run by winemaker husband and wife duo, Josef and Eva Maria Bauer, in the Grossriedenthal area of Wagram. Their 17 hectares of vines are certified organic, because they believe that cultivating the natural diversity of the landscape and being conscientious of it best reflects terroir in their wines. They have a wide range of wines, including crisp classics made from grüner veltliner and rote veltliner, along with incredible dessert wines. This offering is made with 100% blauer burgunder (pinot noir) that was harvested much later in the season (the end of November into December) and at nighttime when they were frozen, meaning the grapes were far more ripe and concentrated with sugar than if they were harvested when grapes for dry wines are. This offering is sweet, supple, creamy and rich, with notes of fresh fig, dark cherry, and blueberry. Certified organic.
