The 300 acres of Corzano e Paterno are nestled in the rolling hills of Chianti, about 20 minutes outside of Florence. Located in the commune of San Pancrazio, the estate has been farmed organically for over 30 years. Winemaker Joschi Goldschmidt and his wife Toni produce olive oil, cheese (from the resident flock of 800 Sardinian sheep), and of course, outstanding wines from the 35 acres of low yielding vineyards.
‘Il Corzano’ is a blend of hand harvested sangiovese (56%) and cabernet sauvignon (44%), spontaneously fermented in open topped fermenters, and aged 20 months in barriques (a combination of new (40%) and used oak). On the palate this Super Tuscan is cab-forward, offering luscious warm blackberry fruit with layers of green pepper and spice. At heart it remains quintessentially Tuscan, with plenty of dusty earth, palate-cleansing acidity, and mineral backbone, while the concentrated, expressive fruit character will please California cab lovers too. Certified organic, vegan.
